Hyderabad: Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Danasari Anasuya, popularly known as Seethakka, said Telangana emerged through the struggles of all sections of society and credited Sonia Gandhi for the formation of the state during Telangana Formation Day celebrations in Mulugu district.
The Minister unfurled the national flag at the district collectorate and received a ceremonial guard of honour. Mahabubabad MP Porika Balram Naik attended the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Seethakka said the Congress government had introduced several welfare measures after assuming office. She added that Mulugu district was making steady progress in development.
She said the government had launched the Praja Palana Pragathi Pranalika programme from March 6 to June 12. According to her, the initiative focused on resolving public grievances and extending welfare benefits to eligible beneficiaries.
Seethakka said the government introduced Praja Darbars at the village level to address public issues. She added that more than 1.91 crore women in the district had utilised the free bus travel scheme, generating benefits worth Rs 134.89 crore.
The Minister said the government sanctioned 5,331 Indiramma houses for the district. Of these, beneficiaries had already completed housewarming ceremonies in 1,040 houses.
She also said the Gruha Jyothi scheme provided free electricity of up to 200 units to 47,187 beneficiaries. Furthermore, she noted that the government strengthened the Aarogyasri programme by increasing free medical coverage from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.
Telangana Formation Day celebrations highlight welfare and development
According to Seethakka, the government established three temporary container-based health sub-centres in forest areas to improve healthcare access. She added that authorities upgraded facilities at the district government hospital and established a nursing college.
The Minister said the government continued to implement Rythu Bharosa and Rythu Bima schemes. In addition, it supported women’s economic empowerment through various livelihood initiatives under the Mahila Shakti programme.
Seethakka said authorities successfully conducted the Sammakka-Saralamma Medaram Jatara and allocated Rs 251 crore for pilgrim amenities and restoration works. She also highlighted efforts to improve road connectivity in villages and strengthen the education sector.
The Minister expressed satisfaction that Mulugu secured the top position in the state in Class 10 examination results. She also said the district administration approved five industries through the TS-iPASS system and was establishing an oil palm factory with an investment of Rs 20 crore.
Highlighting tourism development, Seethakka said authorities were carrying out development works at the UNESCO-recognised Ramappa Temple. She added that plans were underway to create an island facility in Ramappa Lake to attract more visitors.
The Minister also noted that 22 Maoists had surrendered under the police department’s “Poru Kanna Ooru Minna” initiative. She thanked officials from various departments for their contribution to the district’s development.
During the programme, authorities honoured families of Telangana martyrs. District Collector Borkade Hemant Sahadeorao, SP Sudheer Ramnath Kekan and other officials attended the celebrations.
