Godrej Agrovet to invest ₹300 crore in Khammam oil palm unit

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed officials to widen roads leading to the Khammam oil palm unit after Godrej Agrovet sought additional infrastructure support for its ₹300 crore project on Wednesday.

Rakesh Swami, President (Corporate Affairs) of Godrej Industries Group, and Sougata Niyogi, CEO of Godrej Agrovet’s Oil Palm Business, met the Chief Minister and submitted a report on expanding oil palm cultivation in Khammam district.

Godrej Agrovet is building the Khammam oil palm unit at Gubbagurthi village in Konijerla mandal. The project carries an investment of ₹300 crore and will create employment for more than 700 local people.

The Telangana government has allotted 113.5 acres to the company. Godrej Agrovet will use the land for the processing unit, a nursery, an R&D centre, and a seed garden.

Company representatives also requested another 35 to 40 acres for expanding the seed garden. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister reviewed the project’s progress ahead of Telangana’s first private integrated oil palm complex.

Revanth Reddy and company officials discussed key requirements for the upcoming facility during the meeting. They also reviewed measures needed to support future operations.

The Chief Minister accepted the company’s request for better connectivity. He instructed TGIIC officials to widen the approach roads to the processing unit and speed up the required infrastructure work.
