Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday caught Nallutla Srujan Kumar, Tahsildar of Govindaraopet mandal, allegedly accepting a Rs.14,000 bribe. The Mulugu ACB trap was conducted at the Mandal Revenue Office in Govindaraopet.
According to the ACB, the officer had demanded the money for showing official favour in processing the succession of ancestral agricultural land in favour of the complainant’s wife, Smt. Lingala Srilatha. The officer initially demanded Rs.15,000, but later agreed to accept Rs.14,000 following negotiations.
During the trap, ACB officials allegedly caught Srujan Kumar accepting the tainted amount with his right hand. He then allegedly kept the money in his right-side trouser pocket.
The ACB recovered the alleged bribe money from his possession. A chemical test conducted on the fingers of his right hand reportedly returned a positive result.
The ACB alleged that the Tahsildar had improperly and dishonestly performed his official duties to obtain an undue advantage. The agency said the alleged illegal gratification was linked to the processing of the ancestral agricultural land succession.
Mulugu ACB trap leads to Tahsildar arrest
The accused officer was arrested following the trap and was being produced before the Special Judge for SPE & ACB Cases, Warangal. Further investigation into the case was underway.
The identity and details of the complainant were withheld for security reasons. The ACB said members of the public could report corruption-related complaints through its toll-free helpline 1064.
The allegations against the officer remain subject to the outcome of the investigation and judicial process. The Mulugu ACB trap followed the complaint over the alleged demand for money in connection with the land succession process.
