Hyderabad: Telangana Government Adviser Mohammed Ali Shabbir reviewed Kamareddy infrastructure works related to education and sports on Friday. He directed officials to expedite key projects, including new classrooms at the Government Junior College, a CC road to the R&B main road and works at the Indira Gandhi Stadium.
During his visit to the Government Junior College, Shabbir Ali distributed notebooks, college bags and sports shoes to students. He interacted with students and enquired about their studies and the facilities available on the campus.
He said the government was focused on providing quality education, adequate infrastructure and opportunities for students to build a better future. Shabbir Ali congratulated the college for securing 1,100 admissions and said additional infrastructure was needed to meet the growing student strength.
He assured that funds would be sanctioned for the construction of new classrooms. Taking note of difficulties faced by students and teaching staff, he directed officials to urgently construct a CC road connecting the college to the R&B main road and complete the work within 10 days.
Shabbir Ali said the government had increased cosmetic charges for students staying in government hostels by 200 per cent. He added that uniforms, shoes, study material, textbooks and notebooks were being provided free of cost to students in government schools and educational institutions.
He said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who holds the Education portfolio, was giving special attention to strengthening the sector. The government was developing integrated residential schools at a cost of Rs.200 crore in each Assembly constituency, he said.
Shabbir Ali also said the government was working towards establishing a Sports University and upgrading ITI centres with modern technology. These measures, he said, were part of efforts to expand educational and training opportunities.
Kamareddy infrastructure includes stadium upgrades
Later, Shabbir Ali inspected the indoor stadium under construction and other development works at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kamareddy. Accompanied by officials, he reviewed the progress and directed them to complete the projects within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining quality standards.
He said sports played an important role in developing discipline, confidence and leadership qualities among young people. The government was working to strengthen sports infrastructure from the village to the State level and provide better training facilities for talented youngsters, he said.
Shabbir Ali said the proposed Sports University would help nurture sporting talent, including players from rural areas. It would also create opportunities for athletes to compete at national and international levels, he added.
He said the Indira Gandhi Stadium would be developed with modern facilities. The new indoor stadium would allow athletes to train in different sports throughout the year, he said. Officials were asked to work in coordination, avoid delays and ensure that construction quality was not compromised.
Municipal Chairman Ippa Umarani Srinivas, District Library Chairman Maddi Chandrakanth Reddy, former DCC president Kailas Srinivas, local councillors and public representatives attended the programmes. Officials, Congress leaders, workers and local residents also participated.
