Hyderabad: BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao said protecting Telangana identity should remain the foremost priority. He called on party leaders and supporters to recommit themselves to safeguarding the state’s interests.
Addressing Telangana Formation Day celebrations at Telangana Bhavan, KTR said Telangana had completed 12 years since its formation after a 14-year struggle. He alleged that the current administration had pushed the state into difficulties.
The BRS leader criticised the Congress government and accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of failing to fulfil several promises. He also alleged that the government had not delivered the promised Pay Revision Commission despite spending more than two years in office.
KTR credited BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao with leading the movement for a separate state. He said KCR united people behind the statehood demand and guided the struggle to its goal.
He also credited KCR with expanding irrigation facilities and driving development after statehood. At the same time, he objected to criticism directed at the former chief minister and said the party would not remain silent when Telangana’s interests came under attack.
Telangana identity under threat, says KTR
The BRS Working President alleged that anti-Telangana forces were trying to weaken the state’s self-respect and existence. Therefore, he urged people to remain vigilant and work collectively to protect Telangana identity.
KTR administered a pledge to party leaders and workers at Telangana Bhavan. He called for a renewed public movement under KCR’s leadership to counter what he described as attempts to undermine Telangana’s interests.
During the pledge, KTR expressed pride in Telangana and recalled the sacrifices of martyrs who fought for statehood. He said Telangana witnessed significant development and welfare gains during the decade after its formation.
He alleged that the current government had pushed farmers and several sections of society into hardship. Furthermore, he claimed that political developments in the state posed a threat to Telangana’s identity and self-respect.
KTR pledged to dedicate himself to another phase of public struggle for the protection of Telangana identity. He urged party workers to unite and safeguard the state’s interests under KCR’s leadership.
