Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Monday urged students to embrace the Nation First spirit and contribute to building a developed and self-reliant India. He said value-based education, discipline and a spirit of service remained the foundations of nation-building.
The Governor was addressing the 86th Foundation Day celebrations of the Keshav Memorial Educational Society (KMES) at Narayanaguda. He attended the event as the chief guest. Earlier, he paid floral tributes to the statue of the institution’s founder, Pandit Vinayak Rao Vidyalankar.
Shukla said KMES had upheld the ideals of education, service, patriotism and social responsibility inspired by Justice Keshav Rao Koratkar. He said the institution had grown from a modest beginning into a group offering school, technical, management, law and higher education.
Nation First spirit guides education
The Governor described KMES as a model educational institution. He said it was providing quality education to more than 16,000 students with the support of dedicated faculty and staff.
Further, Shukla appreciated the Society’s support for economically weaker students. He also praised its healthcare initiatives, skill development programmes and community welfare activities.
Meanwhile, he said the National Service Scheme (NSS), National Cadet Corps (NCC), personality development initiatives, technical training and cultural programmes played an important role in students’ holistic development.
He emphasised that education should build character along with knowledge. According to him, compassion, discipline and responsible citizenship were equally important outcomes of learning.
In addition, Shukla said India was making rapid progress in innovation, research, technology and self-reliance. He described young people as the driving force behind the country’s transformation.
The Governor also expressed concern over drug abuse. He urged students to support the goal of a drug-free Telangana in line with the vision of “Nasha Mukt Bharat”. He appealed to every student to become an ambassador for a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.
Meanwhile, Shukla advised students to dream big, work with dedication and remain rooted in Indian values. He asked them to place national interest above personal considerations. He also urged teachers to nurture integrity, leadership, social responsibility and excellence beyond classroom instruction.
