Hyderabad: Director General of Police CV Anand IPS announced a major expansion of Telangana Police welfare, introducing higher scholarships, bigger low-interest loans, digital monitoring and stronger financial support for police personnel and their families.
The DGP reviewed the Police Welfare Society and the Bhadrata and Arogya Bhadratha (Health Protection) wing. He said the department would increase scholarships for meritorious children and provide additional assistance for JEE and NEET coaching. He also proposed expanding marriage, medical and education loans, besides strengthening corpus insurance and grant-based assistance.
The new Employee Health Scheme (EHS) has now replaced the Arogya Bhadratha scheme. Under EHS, 33,126 beneficiaries received treatment during 2025 at a cost of ₹181.74 crore. Another 12,392 beneficiaries availed treatment up to June 2026, with expenditure reaching ₹73.61 crore.
Revenue from police canteens and commercial complexes will strengthen YIPS initiatives, children’s education, competitive examination coaching and marriage assistance. In addition, the Group Personal Accidental Insurance scheme will continue supporting families of personnel who die while in service. Coverage ranges from ₹5 lakh to ₹25 lakh for IPS officers.
Digital Telangana Police welfare system to improve transparency
CV Anand directed officials to introduce a digital Telangana Police welfare management system for real-time monitoring. The department will computerise welfare records from the DGP’s office to district units. He also instructed the Police Welfare Society to increase low-interest housing, personal, marriage and education loans up to ₹30 lakh for all eligible personnel.
Furthermore, the DGP said every eligible employee should receive welfare benefits fairly and transparently. He announced that association elections had been ordered after a gap of 14 years to restore democratic functioning.
During recent district visits, CV Anand found that station maintenance bills and routine expenditure had remained pending. He secured Finance Department approval for those bills to provide relief to officers serving in the field. He reiterated that the welfare of the entire police force would remain his highest priority.
