KTR calls Congress Telangana’s biggest villain

Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) accused the Congress of repeatedly acting against Telangana’s interests and described it as the state’s biggest villain during a Meet the Press programme in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

Addressing journalists at the Somajiguda Press Club, KTR said Telangana had a distinct history and identity. He added that generations may change, but historical facts remain unchanged.

Recalling the state’s formation, KTR said Telangana emerged after decades of sacrifices and struggles. He noted that the state had now completed 12 years since its formation.

KTR on Congress and Telangana movement

The BRS leader alleged that Congress played a negative role during several phases of the Telangana movement. Referring to the 1952 Mulki agitation, he claimed that seven people lost their lives during the protests.

KTR said the formation of Andhra Pradesh in 1956 triggered fresh demands for Telangana. He added that students and employees led the movement that intensified between 1968 and 1971.

According to KTR, the then Congress government suppressed the agitation. He alleged that hundreds of students lost their lives during that period.

The former minister also praised BRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao for his role in achieving Telangana statehood. He said KCR remained committed to the cause and never stepped back from the movement.

KTR recalled the slogan “Telangana vachudo, KCR sachudo” and described it as a symbol of determination. He said KCR’s leadership united people across Telangana and strengthened the statehood movement.

The BRS leader maintained that KCR’s contribution would remain an important chapter in Telangana’s history. He reiterated that Congress had consistently acted against the aspirations of the Telangana people.
