Hyderabad: A high-level Telangana government delegation led by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka visited the Caterpillar Demonstration & Learning Center in Tucson, Arizona, and the Komatsu Mining Corporation facility in Longview, Texas, to explore advanced Mining technology and modern mining practices.
The Telangana team included senior officials from Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) and GMMCO Ltd. The visits formed part of the delegation’s ongoing tour of the United States.
At the Caterpillar facility in Tucson, the delegation watched live demonstrations of heavy earth-moving and mining equipment. Moreover, it reviewed autonomous and tele-remote operated machinery. In addition, the team discussed operator training and safety systems for opencast coal mining operations.
The delegation later visited the Komatsu Mining Corporation facility in Longview near Dallas. There, officials inspected the manufacturing and assembly of large-scale mining machinery. They also discussed technology collaboration, equipment supply and after-sales support for SCCL’s mining operations.
Mining technology to support SCCL modernisation
The delegation said the visits would help SCCL adopt advanced Mining technology and modernise its mining operations. Further, firsthand exposure to autonomous and tele-remote operated machinery could improve operational efficiency. At the same time, it could enhance worker safety by reducing manual exposure to hazardous mining zones.
Additionally, officials said the visits to Caterpillar and Komatsu would benefit SCCL’s future operations and strengthen the State’s mining sector through the adoption of modern technologies.
SCCL Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Buddhaprakash Jyoti, Deputy Chief Minister’s Secretary Krishna Bhaskar, Caterpillar India representative R.K. Mishra, Dennis and other senior officials accompanied the delegation.
