Uttam says Revanth’s irrigation tour will shape Palamuru projects

Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s upcoming irrigation tour of the erstwhile Mahabubnagar district will shape the future of irrigation development in the Palamuru region.

Chairing a high-level review meeting at Jala Soudha on Tuesday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said the two-day irrigation tour on June 4 and 5 will focus on speeding up long-pending projects.

The minister said the Chief Minister will review ongoing and proposed irrigation works across the region. He added that the visit will help officials identify bottlenecks and find solutions for early completion.

According to Uttam Kumar Reddy, the irrigation tour could result in major policy decisions. It could also lead to fresh sanctions and additional funding for key projects.

Therefore, the government expects the visit to benefit lakhs of farmers in the drought-prone Palamuru region.

Irrigation tour to review major Palamuru projects

The minister described the visit as a significant step towards expanding irrigation infrastructure in the erstwhile Mahabubnagar district.

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and several ministers are expected to accompany the Chief Minister during the tour.

Meanwhile, Ministers Jupally Krishna Rao and Vakiti Srihari attended the preparatory meeting. Senior officials from irrigation and allied departments also participated.

Uttam Kumar Reddy directed officials to prepare detailed project reports. He also asked them to submit updated progress presentations.

Major presentations will cover the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme and the Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation Scheme. In addition, officials will review the Koilsagar, Bheema and Nettampadu projects.

Officials have proposed a presentation session at Somashila on June 4. During the session, senior engineers will explain project status, challenges and future plans.
