Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao paid tribute to Telangana martyrs and said the state was achieved through the sacrifices of more than 1,200 youth and a historic people’s movement.
Speaking at Telangana Formation Day celebrations at Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday, Ramchander Rao described Telangana as the outcome of aspirations, self-respect and sacrifices made by its people.
He said the occasion became more significant with the presence of BJP National President Nitin Nabin.
Ramchander Rao also recalled the contribution of late BJP leader Sushma Swaraj to the Telangana statehood movement.
He said Sushma Swaraj strongly supported the demand for Telangana in Parliament and played an important role in amplifying the state’s voice at the national level.
Telangana martyrs remembered at Formation Day event
The BJP leader said the people of Telangana would continue to remember Sushma Swaraj’s contribution with gratitude.
He also highlighted the Centre’s commitment to Telangana’s development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to Ramchander Rao, citizens should work towards building a “Viksit Telangana” as part of the broader vision of “Viksit Bharat”.
Meanwhile, he stressed the importance of maintaining cordial relations between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
He advocated healthy competition in development between the two states rather than rivalry.
Ramchander Rao said progress in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh would contribute to the larger goal of national development.
Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, MP Raghunandan Rao and several BJP leaders and supporters attended the programme.
