He felicitated Sejal, Ganapathi and Kashinath at the old Commissionerate office in Basheerbagh. He awarded them certificates and cash rewards for their prompt action.
The incident took place on April 14 near Jubilee Hills Road No. 10. Sejal and Ganapathi spotted a man behaving inappropriately with the child while travelling from Yousufguda towards Madhapur.
Minor rescue leads to arrest of accused under POCSO Act
Noticing the girl’s distress, they acted immediately. With support from Kashinath and another passerby, they stopped the accused and secured the child.
They alerted police through Dial 100 and handed over the accused. Investigators identified him as Javeed, a resident of Yousufguda.
Police found that he lured the child with an offer of ice cream before assaulting her. Jubilee Hills police registered a case under the POCSO Act and sent him to remand.
Sajjanar praised the trio for their courage and sense of responsibility. He said such actions help prevent crimes and strengthen public safety.
Moreover, he urged citizens to act as “public police” and report suspicious activity without fear. He added that public cooperation plays a key role in crime prevention.
He also cited a recent similar rescue in Golconda to underscore the need for vigilance. Police asked citizens to contact Dial 100 or WhatsApp 9490616555 during emergencies.
