Hyderabad: Golconda Zone Police held a Cyber Crime Awareness Programme at Golconda Fort on Thursday under the “Jagrut Hyderabad – Surakshit Hyderabad” initiative to educate the public on cyber threats and safety protocols.
Cyber Mitras, Simbas and students lead awareness push
DCP Crimes V. Aravind Babu, DCP Golconda Zone G. Chandra Mohan, ACP Syed Fiaz, SHO P. Saidulu, and DI P. Anjaiah attended the event along with other police staff. The officials stressed that immediate reporting of cyber frauds through Dial 1930 can help freeze transactions before losses occur.
They urged victims to also report crimes via the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (www.cybercrime.gov.in), which allows citizens to lodge complaints on financial frauds, identity theft, and other cyber offences.
The event also promoted “C-MITRA,” an internal Hyderabad Police programme where trained Cyber Mitras help victims convert complaints into FIRs without visiting police stations. Another initiative, “Cyber Simbas,” trains school and college students as cyber safety ambassadors within their campuses.
Police issued cyber safety guidelines: avoid sharing OTPs, PINs, passwords or clicking suspicious links, use strong passwords, install apps only from official sources, and avoid banking on public Wi-Fi.
Officials also introduced the “Alive Arrive” road safety programme, aimed at reducing accidents through responsible driving. Youth and students were advised to wear helmets, use seat belts, and avoid drunk or rash driving.
Students from colleges across the zone actively participated in the event. At the conclusion, all attendees took cyber safety and road safety pledges, affirming their commitment to safe digital conduct and traffic discipline.
Golconda Police reiterated their call for public cooperation and early reporting to ensure a secure society.
