Hyderabad Traffic Police to introduce KBR Park one-way system from August 18
Hyderabad: Hyderabad Traffic Police will introduce the KBR Park one-way traffic system from August 18, 2026, amid ongoing H-CITI flyover and underpass construction.
The new arrangement will cover roads around KBR Park. Construction has reduced the available carriageway, while traffic volumes remain high.
Officials said two-way movement on the restricted carriageway could cause congestion, delays and conflict points. Therefore, the KBR Park one-way traffic system aims to improve traffic flow and commuter safety.
Hyderabad Traffic Police conducted two pilot trials before introducing the arrangement on a regular basis. The first trial took place on April 5 and continued for about three hours.
The second trial took place on June 21 and continued for nearly six hours. During both exercises, officials monitored traffic flow, junction performance, lane discipline and congestion points.
They also assessed commuter movement and identified operational requirements. Based on those observations, the traffic police incorporated necessary changes before the regular implementation.
Hyderabad Traffic Police has completed several arrangements to help commuters adjust to the new system. Officials have marked lanes and installed lane changers at required locations.
Directional and traffic signs have also been placed at strategic points. In addition, traffic police personnel will remain deployed round the clock at important locations to guide commuters.
The department has also updated Google Maps and navigation routes to help motorists plan their journeys. Meanwhile, the Integrated Command and Control Centre and CCTV network will continuously monitor traffic conditions.
Police will also use drones at suitable locations to assess traffic flow and congestion in real time. Officials will review conditions during the initial implementation period and make field-level changes when required.
Commuters should plan their journeys in advance and follow lane markings and directional signs. They should also comply with instructions issued by traffic personnel.
KBR Park one-way traffic system gets 24×7 monitoring
Emergency vehicles must receive an unobstructed passage through Lane II. Traffic personnel will assist ambulances, fire tenders and other emergency vehicles when necessary.
KBR Park visitors and walkers should use only designated parking areas. They must also follow the revised traffic flow, particularly during morning and evening peak hours.
Motorists must not drive against the designated direction. Wrong-side driving remains prohibited even during night and off-peak hours.
Police warned that wrong-side driving could lead to head-on collisions and endanger road users. They also asked motorists not to park on bends, on the wrong side or in locations that obstruct traffic.
Citizens were advised not to rely on unverified traffic information circulated through unofficial social media groups. Instead, they should follow official Hyderabad Traffic Police advisories and navigation updates.
The traffic police said the one-way system resulted from the restricted carriageway caused by H-CITI construction. The arrangement aims to maintain smoother and safer movement around KBR Park during the construction period.
Hyderabad Traffic Police appealed to citizens to cooperate with the new arrangement. Officials said lane discipline, prescribed traffic directions and proper use of signages would remain essential.
The department will continue 24×7 monitoring through CCTV surveillance, drone inputs and field-level deployment. Officials will make operational changes based on real-time traffic conditions.
