Hyderabad: Police launched an investigation after finding a decomposed woman’s body inside the boot of a car abandoned for two days at Elkathurthi in Hanumakonda district.
The vehicle had remained parked suspiciously beside the main road at the Elkathurthi mandal headquarters. Local residents alerted police after a strong foul smell began coming from the car.
Elkathurthi police reached the spot and thoroughly inspected the vehicle. When officers opened the boot, they found the woman’s body in a severely decomposed condition.
Police subsequently called in a Clues Team and dog squad to collect evidence from the scene. The body was removed from the vehicle and shifted to a nearby government hospital for post-mortem examination.

During the preliminary investigation, police identified the deceased as a young woman from Godavarikhani in Peddapalli district. Investigators also began examining how the vehicle reached Elkathurthi and who had left it beside the road.
According to the preliminary police account, persons connected with the incident had rented the car before it was abandoned. Police took the vehicle owner, identified as Surender, into custody for questioning. Investigators were seeking details from him about the people who had rented the vehicle.
The Hanumakonda car body discovery caused alarm among local residents because the vehicle had remained unattended for about two days. Residents initially noticed that unidentified persons had apparently left the car at the location. However, suspicion increased after a foul smell began emanating from it.
They immediately informed police, leading to the discovery of the body. Police began examining CCTV footage from surrounding areas as part of the investigation.
Investigators were also searching for those suspected of involvement in the incident. The Clues Team collected available evidence from the vehicle and surrounding location. Meanwhile, the dog squad was deployed to assist investigators at the scene.
Police were questioning Surender to establish who had rented the car and reconstruct its movements before it was abandoned. The post-mortem examination was expected to help investigators establish the cause and circumstances of the woman’s death.
