Hyderabad: Minister for Roads and Buildings Komatireddy Venkata Reddy directed officials and the construction agency to complete the Uppal elevated corridor within the 2026 deadline.
The Minister reviewed the project at the Dr BR Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat on Tuesday. He warned that he would not tolerate negligence or delays.
Komatireddy said the government had promised people relief from years of traffic problems along the route. Therefore, officials and the construction agency must complete the project as promised.
He said the government under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy remained accountable to the public. He urged officials to work with greater commitment and ease the difficulties faced by commuters.
The Minister directed the agency to increase manpower and run construction activities in three shifts. He specifically ordered uninterrupted work between 11 pm and 6 am.
He also directed officials to finish the 6.25-km BT road beneath the corridor by the end of this month. In addition, he asked the agency to accelerate work from both Narapally (CPRI) and Uppal using launching girders.
Komatireddy said he would personally review field-level progress every 10 days. He also directed officials to monitor daily work progress and provide regular updates.
During the meeting, the Minister sought an accurate assessment of the work at the site. He asked officials and representatives of the construction agency to present the actual ground situation.
Officials and agency representatives said the project had reached 60 per cent completion. They said workers were progressing with the remaining 40 per cent.
Uppal elevated corridor work to speed up from both ends
Officials told the Minister that 300 workers currently handled construction in two shifts. They were using four beds and four gantries to prepare segments.
Komatireddy instructed the agency to increase the pace from both ends. He specifically asked the agency to deploy launching girders from Narapally (CPRI) and Uppal.
The Minister also reviewed progress from the Uppal side. Officials said workers had completed one slab and were working on the second.
The construction agency told the Minister that night work and rains could extend the completion schedule under current conditions.
However, Komatireddy rejected the request for additional time. He said the government had already fixed October 31, 2026, as the deadline to open the corridor to the public.
The Minister asked the agency to consider the traffic problems faced by commuters. He made it clear that the corridor must open in 2026 under all circumstances.
The agency then told the Minister that it planned to complete six slabs every month. Komatireddy again directed the agency to increase manpower and operate in three shifts.
He stressed the need to accelerate construction further. He also asked officials and the agency to monitor the work daily and keep the project on schedule.
R&B Chief Engineer Dharma Reddy, senior officials and representatives of the construction agency attended the review.
