Hyderabad: Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy highlighted major welfare and infrastructure projects in Nalgonda while addressing Telangana State Formation Day celebrations on Tuesday.
The minister unfurled the National Flag and extended greetings to the people as Telangana completed 12 years of statehood and entered its 13th year.
Paying tributes to Telangana martyrs, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the state emerged after decades of struggle and sacrifice. He stated that the movement fulfilled the aspirations of four crore people and credited Sonia Gandhi for the creation of Telangana.
Addressing the gathering, the minister described Nalgonda as a centre of several historic movements. He also recalled his participation in the Telangana movement, including his resignation from a ministerial post and an indefinite fast.
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said Telangana is progressing rapidly under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. He added that Nalgonda continues to play a leading role in development and welfare activities.
Welfare and infrastructure projects drive district development
The minister said women and transgender persons completed more than 10.83 crore free bus journeys under the Mahalakshmi scheme. According to him, the programme delivered benefits worth ₹508.85 crore in the district.
He also said the government provided ₹44.12 crore in subsidies to 2,52,963 beneficiaries under the ₹500 LPG cylinder scheme.
Highlighting support for farmers, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the government waived crop loans worth ₹2,004.83 crore for 2,33,981 farmers under loan waiver and Rythu Bharosa programmes.
In the irrigation sector, he said authorities sanctioned ₹54 crore for lining works on the Nagarjuna Sagar Left Canal.
Moreover, the government allocated ₹444 crore and ₹52 crore for the high-level and low-level components of the AMR SLBC Project. In addition, it sanctioned ₹1,800 crore for Head Reach works under the Dindi Lift Irrigation Project.
The minister said a Skill Development Centre was established at Nalgonda ITI with an investment of ₹20 crore.
He also announced that Young India Integrated Residential Schools are being constructed in every constituency at a cost of ₹200 crore each.
Further, B.Pharmacy and Law courses will begin this academic year at Mahatma Gandhi University.
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said four units of the Yadadri Thermal Power Station have already started commercial power generation. He added that the remaining unit is expected to be completed by July 2026.
