Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on Saturday attended the Formation Day celebrations of Uttar Pradesh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu as Chief Guest at Lok Bhavan, Hyderabad. The event celebrated the cultural and historical contributions of these regions to India’s democratic fabric.
In his address, the Governor praised Uttar Pradesh as the spiritual and cultural core of the country. He also commended its development journey. He described Bharatiyata as a reflection of India’s unity in diversity, shared values, and collective responsibility.

Governor Dev Varma also acknowledged the successful integration of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu into the Indian Union. Additionally, he lauded their maritime heritage, tribal traditions, and inclusive development. Emphasising cooperative federalism, he underlined the importance of the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative.
The programme featured performances such as Ganga Avartan – Kathak, Khajuri Bhajans, and a fusion dance based on Jhansi Ki Rani. These showcased the rich artistic traditions of the participating regions.
Dignitaries in attendance included Jhansi MP Anurag Sharma, Special Chief Secretary to the Governor M. Dana Kishore, IAS, and Swamiji Oma Upadhyay, Yash Bharati Awardee. Community members from the three regions also participated.
“These celebrations reaffirm our shared commitment to cultural preservation, inclusive progress, and national unity,” the Governor said.
