Hyderabad: Governor Jishnu Dev Varma marked the Rakhi for soldiers celebration at Raj Bhavan on Friday, calling on the youth to defend the nation’s values alongside its borders.
The event, hosted by Samskruti Foundation, brought together students from Hyderabad and Secunderabad to tie Rakhis to officers from the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The gesture aimed to express gratitude and solidarity with the nation’s defenders.
Extending Raksha Bandhan greetings, the Governor invoked the Mahabharata tale of Draupadi and Lord Krishna to underline the festival’s spirit of mutual protection. He reminded attendees that the duty of safeguarding the country extends beyond military service.
“Soldiers include every individual who selflessly serves the nation from scientists to sanitation workers,” he said.
Urging ethical nation-building, Varma stressed the importance of defending Dharma, truth, and constitutional values. He praised Samskruti Foundation for nurturing patriotism among students and spent time interacting with the young participants.
