Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at Janwada in Ranga Reddy district after BRS workers attempted to block a Congress delegation visiting the disputed Janwada farmhouse. Police intervened and dispersed the protesters to clear the way for the delegation.
The Congress leaders travelled to the site by bus for an inspection. The delegation included MP Anil Kumar Yadav and MLC Balmuri Venkat, among other senior leaders.
Police stepped in as BRS workers sought to prevent the delegation from proceeding towards the farmhouse. The bus was subsequently allowed to continue to the site.
During the inspection, Nagarkurnool MP Mallu Ravi alleged that the farmhouse had been constructed without valid permissions. He claimed the structure was built on a natural water channel, or nala.
Mallu Ravi also questioned the legal status of the property. He said there was a lack of clarity over its ownership.
Janwada farmhouse violations will be examined: Congress
Bhuvanagiri MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy alleged that the land originally belonged to Satyam Computers founder B. Ramalinga Raju.
He further claimed that the land had been attached under the provisions of GO 111. He questioned how such a large structure was permitted in the catchment zone.
Kiran Kumar Reddy said the alleged violations surrounding the property would be thoroughly investigated. He added that the matter would be formally taken to HYDRA for action.
The Congress delegation’s inspection and the attempt by BRS workers to block the visit led to heightened tension at the site. Police intervention allowed the delegation to proceed with the inspection.
