Continuous monitoring urged on Section 22-A land issues

Hyderabad: Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy asked officials to keep a close watch on Section 22-A land issues across Telangana. He said the State wanted quick action on recent orders.

The government had issued a memo on patta lands with registration problems. These lands began as farm land. Later, some owners used them for homes without finishing the NALA process.

The Minister said District Collectors would check each request. They would use revenue records, land rights and facts on the ground. Eligible owners could then register their property after paying NALA fees and other government charges.

Ponguleti said the move would help many families. Registration blocks had stopped some owners from selling property. They had also faced trouble getting loans against those properties.

Section 22-A land issues need close field checks

At a review meeting, Ponguleti told revenue staff to carry out the orders at the field level. He also asked them to clear eligible requests in a fair and timely way. Meanwhile, the government was working on a fast-track plan for 10 to 12 types of Section 22-A land issues. Ponguleti said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had given an assurance in the Assembly last month.

Soon after that, the government formed a high-level committee within 24 hours. It had also issued orders under GO 118 and GO 76. Those orders covered houses, plots and flats cleared by GHMC, HMDA, DTCP and municipal bodies. They could help with registration even when such property had earlier appeared in the 22-A list.

The Minister said the government had also started work on long-pending Urban Land Ceiling requests. Further, the new memo dealt with patta lands where owners had not finished NALA conversion.

He said this memo formed part of the wider drive to resolve Section 22-A land issues. The State was also trying to clear registration blocks in eligible cases. Finally, Ponguleti told officials to act with care and sincerity. He asked them to carry out public-interest decisions without delay.
