Police recover stolen jewellery in Hill Ridge Villas theft case

Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police recovered stolen gold and silver ornaments and arrested three accused in the Hill Ridge Villas theft case in Gachibowli within days of the offence.

The theft occurred on June 6 when a couple employed at a villa allegedly stole valuables while the homeowners were away.

The elderly residents returned on June 7 and noticed that a gold chain from a small idol was missing. They immediately informed police, who registered a case and launched an investigation.

However, the scale of the theft became clear only after the couple’s son returned home on June 8 and opened a locker using a key in his possession.

Police said the family discovered the loss of approximately seven to eight kilograms of gold ornaments and around 1.5 kilograms of silver ornaments.

Hill Ridge Villas theft traced through special investigation

Following the complaint, Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty directed Special Operations Teams, crime teams and local police units to investigate the case.

Investigators analysed available clues and tracked the movement of the accused.

Police dispatched six teams to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Uttarakhand. In addition, officers shared photographs and details of the suspects with police departments in those states.

A special team constituted to track Nepali theft gangs also assisted in the operation.

Hill Ridge Villas theft accused arrested in Uttar Pradesh

On June 9, Gachibowli Division Inspector Naresh and his team apprehended three accused at Udampur in Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh with assistance from local police.

Police identified the accused as Kamal Shashi, his wife Vimal Shahi and another woman, Kalpana.

Investigators recovered the stolen property intact.

According to police, the accused admitted that they used a key kept beside the locker, removed the jewellery, locked the locker again and took the key with them before fleeing.

The accused are being produced before a local court. Thereafter, police will bring them to Hyderabad on a transit warrant.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Ch. Srinivas said citizens should verify the background of domestic workers through local police and take necessary precautions to prevent such thefts.
