Hyderabad: Telangana Public Enterprises and Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin launched the Turka Kasha tool kit scheme on Monday to provide mechanised equipment to members of the Turka Kasha Muslim community.
The Minister inaugurated the State-level programme at ATR Convention Hall in Kothakota along with Devarakadra MLA G. Madhusudan Reddy. During the event, Azharuddin said playing cricket was easier than breaking stones, highlighting the hardships faced by members of the Turka Kasha community.
Under the programme, 90 beneficiaries from the Devarakadra constituency received generators and tool kits worth ₹60,000 each. In all, the distribution involved an expenditure of ₹54 lakh.
Turka Kasha tool kit scheme to cover 2,000 beneficiaries
Azharuddin said the Telangana Minorities Finance Corporation would implement the Turka Kasha tool kit scheme for 2,000 beneficiaries across the State during 2025-26. For this purpose, the government has allocated ₹12 crore.
The Minister said members of the Turka Kasha community depended on a physically demanding occupation. Therefore, he expressed confidence that the equipment would improve their livelihoods. He also urged beneficiaries to use the tools effectively to strengthen their financial position.
Further, Azharuddin assured the community that the government would support the resolution of its issues and assist in the construction of Shadi Khanas.
MLA G. Madhusudan Reddy described the scheme as a historic initiative for the Turka Kasha community. Meanwhile, Telangana Minorities Finance Corporation Chairman Obedullah Kotwal said the government was implementing several welfare and livelihood programmes for minorities.
Additional Collector Khimya Naik, RDO Subrahmanyam, TGMFC AGM Praveen Kulkarni, community representatives, public representatives and officials also attended the programme.
