Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan Kumar demanded an apology from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Telangana PCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud over what he called false allegations linking Harish Rao to black magic.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Monday, Dasoju alleged that Congress leaders were trying to malign Harish Rao through baseless accusations. Moreover, he accused them of insulting constitutional values and hurting the sentiments of Hindus.
Dasoju said Telangana Bhavan had always served as a platform for democratic movements and public struggles. However, he alleged that the Congress had lowered the standards of political discourse through such accusations.
Harish Rao black magic claims draw sharp reaction
The BRS leader said Harish Rao visited the Mookambika Temple in Shivamogga. He alleged that Congress leaders falsely portrayed the visit as an act of black magic. According to Dasoju, devotees revere Goddess Mookambika as a manifestation of Shakti, and Congress leaders should not drag the temple into political controversies.
He recalled that former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao performed Chandi Yagam for Telangana’s welfare. Further, he said BRS leaders had never performed rituals to harm political opponents.
Dasoju questioned whether Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam president Vijay, who also visited the Mookambika Temple, had performed black magic. He also referred to temple visits by Rahul Gandhi, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar.
The BRS MLC claimed people had also spread similar rumours about Revanth Reddy. He argued that political parties could level similar allegations against anyone if they adopted the same approach.
Dasoju demanded that Revanth Reddy and Mahesh Kumar Goud publicly apologise for the allegations against Harish Rao. He also accused Congress leaders of lowering political standards by making what he described as irresponsible statements.
