Hyderabad: Khairatabad Zone DCP Shilpavalli denied allegations of an attack on KTR PRO Mahesh and PA Mahender Reddy. She said CCTV footage showed no such incident at Saifabad Police Station.
The clarification came after BRS leaders alleged that masked people entered the police station and tried to attack KTR’s staff. Police, however, said an argument involving local youths who had sought DJ permission had taken place there.
Speaking to the media, DCP Shilpavalli said police had called KTR’s PA and PRO to the station on Monday. She said their presence was linked to the investigation into the dispute that had occurred at the assembly.
Meanwhile, some local youths arrived at the police station in the evening. They had reportedly come to seek permission to use a DJ at a Ganesh Mandapam.
The youths were speaking with the Saifabad CI about the DJ permission when one of them recognised KTR PRO Mahesh. According to the DCP, an argument then developed at the police station.
Shilpavalli said the youths questioned police about how they had dealt with people who allegedly created a disturbance at the assembly. They reportedly asked police to sit down and speak politely about the matter.
The DCP said the police objected to the manner of the youths’ remarks. After the CI asked them not to speak in that manner, the youths left the police station.
Following the allegations, police examined CCTV footage from the station to establish what had happened. The review, according to Shilpavalli, did not show any incident involving an attack on KTR’s staff.
KTR PRO Mahesh and PA Mahender Reddy also clarified that no attack had taken place against them. The police therefore rejected the allegations that masked individuals had assaulted the two at the station.
Khairatabad DCP clarification triggers satire over DJ permission
The Khairatabad DCP clarification also drew sarcastic reactions from some netizens. Several questioned whether the police account fully explained the reported argument at the station.
Some social media users questioned why people seeking DJ permission would allegedly appear with masks. They sarcastically asked whether wearing masks would become necessary for anyone visiting police stations for DJ permission.
Others questioned whether the youths could have been allowed to leave after allegedly arguing with the Saifabad SHO. They expressed disbelief that the confrontation was limited to a minor verbal exchange.
Meanwhile, some netizens mocked the police explanation and suggested that the account sounded like a scripted version of events. One group of comments compared the explanation unfavourably with the film Rajasab.
Some users also suggested that those involved should participate in story-writing competitions. These reactions reflected online scepticism about the police explanation, rather than an independently established finding.
The police position remained that no attack on KTR’s PRO or PA occurred inside Saifabad Police Station. DCP Shilpavalli said CCTV footage had been checked as part of the verification process.
