Telangana launches GPSAP-2026 for comprehensive development of every village

Hyderabad: The Telangana government introduced GPSAP-2026 to prepare comprehensive development plans for every gram panchayat. The initiative aims to build self-reliant villages by 2047. Accordingly, the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department issued orders to implement the programme across the state.

The department developed the framework in line with the ideas and directions of Panchayat Raj Minister Dr Dhanasari Anasuya (Seethakka). Through this initiative, the government aims to create a structured development roadmap for every village based on its needs and local priorities.

Under GPSAP-2026, officials will first prepare a detailed profile of each village. This profile will cover population, household conditions, employment opportunities, housing, livestock and access to government welfare schemes.

Based on these details, each gram panchayat will receive a long-term development plan covering three to five years. In addition, officials will prepare a separate annual plan for the current year.

GPSAP-2026 introduces village-level monitoring and accountability

The government will select development works according to local requirements and priorities. For this purpose, different departments will coordinate to identify and complete the proposed projects.

To ensure transparency, authorities will establish a dedicated website for every gram panchayat. They will also introduce a separate dashboard to monitor project progress.

Furthermore, gram panchayats will review implementation during their monthly meetings. These reviews will help track progress under GPSAP-2026 and assess the status of planned works.

The government has also prescribed strict action against officials who neglect their duty to provide information or submit incorrect details. Such action will extend from panchayat secretaries to district collector-level officials.

The initiative forms part of the Telangana Rising-2047 vision. Through this framework, the government aims to strengthen transparent and accountable administration. It also seeks to move every village towards self-reliance through planned development.
