Hyderabad: BRS general secretary R.S. Praveen Kumar on Tuesday questioned Hyderabad police over the alleged Saifabad police station attack involving two staff members of K.T. Rama Rao. He disputed the police version that no such attack had taken place.
The allegations involved KTR’s PRO Mahesh and PA Mahender Reddy at Saifabad police station. Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, Praveen Kumar challenged the account given by Khairatabad Zone DCP Shilpavalli.
The DCP had said police examined CCTV footage from the station and found no incident resembling an attack. However, Praveen Kumar alleged that the incident was deliberate. He questioned why KTR’s staff members were not released at 6.30 pm.
He claimed masked persons entered the police station around the same time and sought an explanation for their presence.
Saifabad police station attack claim disputed by police
Praveen Kumar also questioned the police explanation concerning the group that allegedly entered the station. According to the police account cited by him, the group had arrived to seek permission for a DJ event. “If people come seeking permission, why would 15 to 30 persons arrive together, and why would anyone seeking permission wear a mask?” Praveen Kumar asked.
He said applications for DJ permissions were processed through the police officials concerned. Therefore, he questioned why such a large group needed to be present at the station for permission. The BRS leader demanded that DCP Shilpavalli respond to his questions surrounding the alleged Saifabad police station attack.
He maintained that the police explanation had left questions about the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident. Praveen Kumar said the Director General of Police should provide clarification if the DCP failed to answer his questions.
