Hyderabad: Falaknuma police cracked the Hyderabad black magic murder case involving 53-year-old real estate businessman Mohd. Mehboob Ali. Police apprehended six accused and a juvenile on September 3 in connection with the killing.
Investigators alleged that Mehboob Ali was killed because of a superstitious belief involving black magic. One accused suspected him of causing his mother’s illness and blamed him for his maternal uncle’s death, police said.
The attack occurred around 9.30 pm on August 30 near Almas Hotel at Vattepally. According to police, the group intercepted Mehboob Ali and attacked him with knives and daggers.
The victim suffered multiple injuries to his head, chest, hands and other parts of his body. He was subsequently rushed to Princess Esra Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Hyderabad black magic murder allegedly followed suspicion
Police identified Mirza Mohsin Baig as the prime accused. Investigators said Baig suspected Mehboob Ali of performing black magic on his mother, Tahera Begum.
Tahera Begum had reportedly suffered from a prolonged illness. Moreover, Baig allegedly believed Mehboob Ali was responsible for his maternal uncle’s death.
Police said Baig shared these suspicions with his cousin, Mohammed Imran Ahemad. According to investigators, Ahemad allegedly advised Baig to eliminate Mehboob Ali.
Ahemad also allegedly assured Baig of assistance in securing bail, police said. Subsequently, the duo allegedly involved four other people and a juvenile in the plan.
Investigators alleged that the group assembled at Ayaan Darbar Hotel on the night of the killing. The accused then procured six knives and daggers, according to police.
They travelled on two Activa scooters before allegedly attacking Mehboob Ali near Almas Hotel. Police said the assault caused multiple injuries that later proved fatal.
Hyderabad black magic murder probe leads to seizures
During the investigation, police seized two Activa two-wheelers allegedly used by the accused. They also recovered six knives and daggers and three mobile phones allegedly connected with the crime.
Police produced the six accused before the court, while proceedings also involved the apprehended juvenile. The accused were remanded to judicial custody.
Following the Hyderabad black magic murder investigation, Falaknuma police cautioned the public against acting on superstitious beliefs.
Police said people should not believe in black magic and stressed that such practices had no scientific basis. They also urged residents not to take the law into their own hands.
Instead, police asked people to approach law enforcement authorities when facing disputes or suspicions.
