KTR Independence Day speech targets Congress, Centre over Telangana development
Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao used his KTR Independence Day address at Telangana Bhavan to attack the Congress government and the Centre. He also announced plans to intensify BRS activities across Telangana districts. KTR met party leaders and workers after hoisting the national flag at Telangana Bhavan. He extended greetings to people on the 80th Independence Day.
He said India’s different languages and cultures remained united through a shared sense of Indian identity. However, he argued that the country had not achieved the development envisioned by freedom fighters even after eight decades.
KTR said villages still lacked roads, electricity, drinking water and adequate school facilities. Moreover, he said farmers continued to struggle with irrigation problems.
KTR Independence Day speech questions Centre on development
KTR accused those governing at the Centre of insulting Mahatma Gandhi. He also criticised the country’s management of available water resources.
He said former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao wanted irrigation water to reach every acre in India. According to KTR, the country had 70,000 TMC of water available, but governments had failed to use it effectively.
He compared India’s development with China’s progress over the past four decades. KTR claimed India possessed more resources than China but lacked effective governance.
Furthermore, he accused governments of comparing India with weaker countries to create a misleading picture of development. He also claimed India was not doing better than Sri Lanka. KTR said change had to begin at home if the country wanted to progress.
KTR Independence Day remarks target Revanth Reddy
Turning to Telangana politics, KTR attacked Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and the Congress government. He alleged that a person who had opposed the Telangana movement had now become Chief Minister. Therefore, KTR questioned Revanth Reddy’s commitment to the State’s development.
He also claimed Revanth Reddy had never raised the “Jai Telangana” slogan. KTR questioned why the State government had not found time to file a counter concerning Kalyana Lakshmi.
He contrasted the current government with the previous BRS administration on electricity supply. KTR claimed Telangana lacked adequate power during decades of Congress rule, while KCR provided round-the-clock electricity after taking office.
He further claimed people from villages to cities were remembering KCR’s administration. Additionally, he alleged that Hyderabad was again facing electricity supply problems.
KTR Independence Day speech compares BRS with ‘double engine’
KTR also targeted the BJP’s “double-engine government” slogan. He claimed Telangana’s “single engine” under the BRS had moved faster than other governments.
Referring to Revanth Reddy’s claim of working 18 hours a day, KTR made allegations concerning the Chief Minister’s brothers. He questioned whether those working hours were meant to elevate the “Anumula brothers” to the level of industrialist Gautam Adani.
KTR also rejected claims that Telangana had become financially bankrupt. Meanwhile, he asked BRS leaders to increase party activities across districts. He proposed programmes every day and urged the leadership to protect party workers.
Telangana Bhavan completes 20 years
KTR recalled the early years of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, which later became the BRS. He said people once feared renting buildings to the party. Subsequently, the party began its journey from Jala Drushyam, which Konda Laxman Bapuji had provided.
KTR said Telangana Bhavan, the BRS central office, had completed 20 years. According to him, KCR envisioned the building as a permanent source of inspiration for the Telangana movement and its people.
He described Telangana Bhavan as a symbol of Telangana’s self-respect. Moreover, he thanked everyone who had contributed to its construction. KTR expressed confidence that the BRS would return to power and put Telangana “back on track.” He concluded by calling on party leaders and workers to rededicate themselves to nation-building.
