Hyderabad: Revenue, Housing and Information Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy ordered an immediate water release to address irrigation problems faced by farmers amid dry conditions. Ponguleti brought the irrigation difficulties of farmers in the Palair constituency to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s attention.
Subsequently, the Minister directed officials to immediately release irrigation water through the Palair old canal. He issued the instructions after considering the water requirements of farmers in the constituency. The decision will make irrigation water available to farmers in villages under the old canal system.
Palair canal water release to benefit crops
The water release could provide irrigation to crops spread across thousands of acres, according to the information provided. Therefore, the decision is expected to offer relief to farmers facing irrigation difficulties because of inadequate rainfall.
Ponguleti directed officials to act immediately on the water release. Meanwhile, farmers expressed happiness over the decision to provide irrigation water through the old canal.
The Minister’s intervention followed concerns over crop water requirements in Palair. He first raised the farmers’ difficulties with the Chief Minister and then instructed officials to release the water.
