Hyderabad: Poultry industry leaders have decided to work towards a uniform pricing policy across all regions. They want the live chicken price to stay at no less than Rs 110 per kg. The decision aims to control fluctuations in chicken prices across the country.
Poultry traders held a high-level meeting in Shamshabad on Monday. Representatives of leading poultry breeders associations and industry leaders from across the country attended and reached a consensus. The meeting discussed in detail the rise in chicken feed price, which mainly affects the poultry sector.
Demand for duty-free maize imports
One speaker urged the Centre to allow duty-free import of genetically modified (GM) maize, which is crucial for feed production. He also urged the government to ensure that soybeans are imported at competitive prices, since they are widely available in the international market.
The meeting decided to bring the problems of the poultry sector to the Centre’s attention. Representatives of various poultry associations took part, including the All India Poultry Breeders Association (AIPBA), the Pan India Breeders Association (PIBCC) and the Telangana Poultry Breeders Association (TPBA).
