Hyderabad: Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharshan Reddy on Monday directed officials to improve the quality of digitisation under the SIR process. He asked them to correct missing photographs, incorrect dates of birth, gender discrepancies and signature-related errors in enumeration forms.
Sudharshan Reddy, along with Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr V. Venkateshwar Reddy, reviewed the progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) through a video conference. During the meeting, they also examined proposals for rationalising polling stations and reviewed digitisation progress.
The Chief Electoral Officer instructed officials to thoroughly verify the lists of Absent, Shifted, Dead and Duplicate (ASDD) voters. In addition, he directed them to examine No Mapping cases and other discrepancies before updating the records.
He also asked officials to scrutinise every electoral roll carefully. Further, he instructed them to re-examine each ASDD case before taking a final decision. He said officials must ensure that no eligible voter is left out or removed by mistake.
SIR process prioritises accurate voter verification
Sudharshan Reddy asked officials to use the rollback facility whenever they identified discrepancies. Accordingly, they should reverify the records and make the required corrections.
He directed Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Booth Level Supervisors and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) to strengthen field verification. Moreover, he warned that authorities would initiate disciplinary action wherever they identified negligence.
The Chief Electoral Officer also instructed officials to upload the minutes of meetings with BLOs after collecting the signatures of recognised political parties’ Booth Level Agents (BLAs).
He directed officials to give priority to voters aged 85 years and above. Meanwhile, they should resolve discrepancies involving senior citizens on priority. He also asked them to complete polling station rationalisation within the timeline prescribed by the Election Commission of India.
Sudharshan Reddy instructed officials to keep members of the same family at the same polling station wherever possible. Later, he reviewed the progress of the GHMC Commissioner and Hyderabad District Election Officer, along with District Election Officers from urban districts.
He directed officials to resolve No Mapping cases, ASDD cases, inconsistencies, uncollected enumeration forms and other pending issues. Ultimately, he said every district should prepare an error-free electoral roll.
Additional Secretary, General Administration (Elections), N. Shankar, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer (FAC) G.S. Chary, the GHMC Commissioner and Hyderabad District Election Officer, District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers, nodal officers, section officers and the Project Manager (IT) participated in the video conference.
