SCR seeks Telangana support for railway infrastructure projects

Hyderabad: South Central Railway (SCR) on Thursday sought Telangana government support for railway infrastructure projects, including land acquisition and clearances, during a high-level coordination meeting in Secunderabad.

SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava held the meeting at Rail Nilayam with Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao and senior State officials. The discussion focused on accelerating railway infrastructure projects across Telangana.

SCR Additional General Manager Satya Prakash, principal department heads and Divisional Railway Managers of Secunderabad and Hyderabad divisions attended. Other senior officials also participated.

Officials described the meeting as the first of its kind at Railway premises with the Chief Secretary’s participation. Therefore, it aimed to strengthen coordination between the State government and the Railways.

Railway infrastructure projects and State support

Railway officials made a detailed presentation on ongoing railway infrastructure projects in Telangana. These included Road Under Bridges and Road Over Bridges, new railway lines, station development works and approach roads.

They discussed the support required from the State during project approvals and execution. In particular, they highlighted the need for assistance in Road Under Bridge and Road Over Bridge works.

SCR officials sought State support for No Objection Certificates, land acquisition and traffic diversion. They also requested help in shifting electric lines and pipelines. Consequently, they said such cooperation would speed up project execution.

Railway infrastructure projects and future plans

Officials also discussed new railway lines and sought cooperation on land acquisition and cost sharing. In addition, they held preliminary discussions on a proposed high-speed rail corridor.

The corridor is expected to connect Hyderabad with Bengaluru, Chennai and Pune. Moreover, officials reviewed the proposal for the Regional Ring Rail project.

Addressing the meeting, Sanjay Kumar Srivastava said completion of these railway infrastructure projects would benefit the public. He added that they would also contribute to the State’s economic growth.

He said support from the State government would significantly accelerate execution. He also thanked the Chief Secretary and officials for their participation.

Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao stressed the need for regular structured meetings. He said close coordination between the State and Railways is essential for development.

He added that integrated planning across departments would help resolve issues efficiently. Better communication, he said, would ensure timely completion of projects and benefit the public.

Both Railway and State officials reiterated their commitment to work in coordination. They said this would ensure timely execution of railway infrastructure projects across Telangana.
