Hyderabad: Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, and State Scheduled Castes Development and ST Welfare Minister and united Nalgonda district in-charge Adluri Laxman Kumar on Monday announced measures to fast-track irrigation projects across the united Nalgonda district. They also reviewed ongoing works and drinking water infrastructure.
The review meeting took place at Udayaditya Bhavan in the Nalgonda Collectorate. Uttam Kumar Reddy said the government would provide a drinking water linkage to the Devarakonda Assembly constituency. He also said the government would complete the SLBC, Dindi and other ongoing irrigation projects during its tenure.
Further, the minister announced that Godavari water would be supplied to the Tungaturthi Assembly constituency through Devadula Phase-6. He said work on the Dindi Project, Dunnapothula Gandi and Baswapur would be accelerated. During the meeting, he explained the present status of the Kaleshwaram Project through a PowerPoint presentation.
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy directed engineering officials to fill Udaya Samudram keeping drinking water needs in view. He also instructed them to release irrigation water from the Musi to Tipparthi mandal. In addition, the minister asked Mission Bhagiratha officials to resolve the drinking water shortage in three mandals of the Devarakonda Assembly constituency.
The minister directed power officials to submit proposals for additional electricity wherever required. The aim was to protect standing paddy crops in the Nalgonda Assembly constituency. Meanwhile, he instructed officials to install transformers in low-voltage areas and conduct daily reviews of the power supply situation.
Irrigation projects review covers constituency demands
Government Whip and Alair MLA Beerla Ilaiah sought the release of funds for land acquisition linked to the Baswapur and Mallannasagar projects. He also urged officials to expedite pending substation works.
Tungaturthi MLA Mandula Samuel requested funds for canal land acquisition. He also sought implementation of Devadula Phase-6 and additional allocations for drinking water borewells.
Meanwhile, Nagarjunasagar MLA Kunduru Jaiveer Reddy sought action to address monkey attacks affecting farmers cultivating alternative crops. He also requested repairs to lift irrigation systems, strengthening of tank bunds and jungle clearance.
Kodad MLA Padmavathi Reddy proposed the construction of soak pits and farm ponds to improve groundwater recharge. Devarakonda MLA Balu Naik sought a drinking water linkage and a 132 KV substation for his constituency.
Further, Suryapet MLA Guntakandla Jagadish Reddy urged officials to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply to the town. He also asked them to take preventive measures to avoid shortages. MLC Nellikanti Satyam sought improved Mission Bhagiratha water supply in the Munugode Assembly constituency. He also requested early electricity connections for eligible farmers.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of irrigation projects, electricity supply and drinking water infrastructure across the united Nalgonda district. Ministers, public representatives and district collectors later unveiled a wall publication on Telangana Jalasiri.
