Hyderabad: Roads and Buildings and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy said every acre in the Nalgonda Assembly constituency would receive irrigation water through the Brahmana Vellemula project. He said the Nalgonda irrigation project would strengthen agriculture across the district.
The Minister said the State government aimed to transform Nalgonda into a fertile and prosperous region. It plans to irrigate four lakh acres through the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) project. He said officials would complete the reconstruction work by August 2028. After that, they would supply irrigation water to the targeted areas.
Komatireddy Venkata Reddy made the announcement after inaugurating a ₹20-lakh gram panchayat building in Kanchanapally village of Nalgonda mandal on Sunday.
Nalgonda irrigation project to boost village development
The Minister said the government would develop Kanchanapally as a model village. It would improve roads, drainage, drinking water, irrigation and education. Meanwhile, officials are laying double-lane roads to connect the village with Hyderabad, Nalgonda, Chityal and other places.
He said officials are executing the ₹11-crore Kanchanapally Lift Irrigation Scheme. The scheme will provide irrigation to every acre in the village. Moreover, officials will complete the project by Dasara.
The government also sanctioned a 33/11 KV sub-station for Kanchanapally at a cost of ₹3 crore. Furthermore, the Minister said the government would inaugurate both projects during the Dasara festival.
Komatireddy Venkata Reddy said the government was also helping women achieve economic independence. Therefore, it is supporting small businesses and encouraging women to establish rice mills and warehouses.
