Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao demanded an unconditional public apology from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s reported remarks describing engineering students as “criminal waste.” KTR demands apology became the central demand in a strongly worded letter addressed to the Congress leader.

In the four-page letter, K.T. Rama Rao questioned whether the Chief Minister’s reported remarks reflected the official stand of the Congress party on students, engineers and the younger generation.

He held Rahul Gandhi politically and morally responsible, stating that the Congress leader had campaigned for the party in Telangana and supported Revanth Reddy’s elevation as Chief Minister. Therefore, he argued that the Congress could not distance itself from the controversy.

K.T. Rama Rao wrote that the political and moral responsibility rested with Rahul Gandhi. He further alleged that Rahul Gandhi’s silence amounted to an endorsement of the Chief Minister’s reported comments.

The BRS leader said the reported remarks insulted lakhs of engineering students, teachers and parents. He added that describing engineers as “criminal waste” demeaned the profession and undermined the dignity of the constitutional office held by the Chief Minister.

Furthermore, K.T. Rama Rao alleged that the reported remarks were part of a recurring pattern of statements targeting students and young people. He referred to previous remarks that he claimed Revanth Reddy had made about university students, youth and members of the teaching community.

K.T. Rama Rao urged Rahul Gandhi to issue an unconditional public apology to students, engineers, teachers and youth across the country. He also called on the Congress leader to direct Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to withdraw the reported remarks immediately and apologise unconditionally to students.
