Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader Jagga Reddy alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP are running a “poisonous conspiracy” against the Nehru–Gandhi family. Speaking at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, he questioned the role of Modi or the BJP during India’s freedom struggle. He argued that the party operates with a single agenda to weaken the Nehru–Gandhi legacy in national politics.
He said Sonia Gandhi highlighted the same issue yesterday. According to him, targeting one family damages democratic values and must stop. Reddy also urged young people to learn about the sacrifices made by the Nehru and Gandhi families.
Jagga Reddy challenges Modi’s criticism of Congress legacy
Reddy noted that Modi may attack Nehru and Gandhi in several ways, yet their place in history remains firm. He stated that pre-Independence politics functioned differently and stressed that Modi works only for personal gain. In contrast, Nehru, he said, dedicated himself to the nation’s freedom with sincerity.
He added that Congress will carry forward the ideas of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. The party, he said, stands firmly with their leadership as it responds to BJP criticism.
