Farmers urged to register paddy seed purchases by August 19

Hyderabad: Farmers cultivating government-recognised paddy varieties must complete paddy seed registration by August 19, 2026.

Mandal Agriculture Officer Kaveti Naresh, M.Sc (Agriculture), said the government will provide a Rs.500 per quintal bonus during the 2026-27 monsoon season.

However, farmers must register their seed purchase details online to qualify for the government benefit. They must complete the process through the same dealer who sold them the seeds.

The government has recognised seven medium-grain paddy varieties for the bonus scheme. These include BPT-5204 (Sambamasuri), RNR-15048 (Telangana Sona) and HMT Sona.

The list also includes Jai Sriram, KNM-1638 (Kunaram Sannalu), WGL-44 (Siddhi) and KNM-7715. Farmers cultivating any of these varieties must register their seed purchases online.

For registration, farmers must submit their seed purchase bill or receipt to the concerned seed dealer. The dealer will then record the purchase details in the online registration system.

Officials advised farmers not to delay the process. The August 19 deadline applies to all farmers growing the recognised paddy varieties under the scheme.

Paddy seed registration needed for government procurement

Farmers who fail to complete paddy seed registration will face restrictions at government procurement centres. Officials said such farmers will not qualify for procurement under the scheme.

Moreover, unregistered farmers will not receive the Rs.500 per quintal bonus. Therefore, farmers must ensure that their seed purchase details appear correctly in the online system.

Naresh urged farmers to contact the same seed dealer from whom they purchased the seeds. They should carry the purchase bill or receipt while completing the registration process.

The Agriculture Department asked farmers to finish registration by August 19 to avoid difficulties. Officials also stressed that farmers should act before the deadline rather than wait until the final day.

The registration requirement applies specifically to the seven government-recognised varieties listed under the scheme. Farmers growing those varieties must complete the process to remain eligible for the procurement and bonus benefits.
