Hyderabad: The Telangana Government appointed Adluri Laxman Kumar to two key committees. He serves as Minister for SC & ST Welfare. He also oversees the department for persons with disabilities, senior citizens and transgender persons.
The General Administration Department issued G.O. Rt. No. 1077 on July 23. Through the order, the Government added him to a panel on SC and ST sub-classification.
The panel will study the Supreme Court’s seven-judge Constitution Bench judgment in the State of Punjab and Others vs Davinder Singh and Others case. The court delivered the judgment on August 1, 2024.
Moreover, the committee will examine sub-classification within Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe reservation categories. It will also review related issues and recommend the next course of action.
Adluri Laxman Kumar joins Rohith Vemula Bill panel
The Government also included Adluri Laxman Kumar in a Cabinet Sub-Committee. The panel will study the proposed Rohith Vemula Telangana Bill, 2026. The proposed law seeks to prevent identity-based discrimination in higher education. Therefore, the sub-committee will review the draft and suggest suitable legislative measures.
In addition, the panel will submit recommendations on framing the Bill. The Scheduled Caste Development Department Secretary will coordinate further action as the sub-committee convener. Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju issued the order in the name of the Governor of Telangana.
