Hyderabad: Telangana Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy accused the NDA Government at the Centre of failing to prevent the NEET paper leak and alleged that it had jeopardised the future of lakhs of students across the country. He demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and sought an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issue.
Addressing a press conference in Bhongir on Friday along with Government Whip and Aler MLA Beerla Ilaiah, the Minister alleged that the Centre had remained indifferent despite repeated irregularities in competitive examinations.
He claimed that many students had suffered severe mental distress because of alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and said reports of student suicides reflected the seriousness of the issue. He alleged that the Centre had failed to respond adequately.
Komatireddy raises NEET paper leak allegations
Komatireddy claimed that around 152 competitive examination question paper leaks had occurred during the past 12 years. He alleged that the NDA Government had failed to translate its assurances into effective action.
Komatireddy said the Union Education Minister should accept moral responsibility for the NEET paper leak and resign immediately. He also demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi apologise to students affected by the alleged examination irregularities.
The Minister condemned the reported arrests of Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders during protests over the issue. He also criticised the alleged lathi-charge on protesting students.
Referring to the UPA Government, Komatireddy said ministers had resigned in the past even over minor allegations. He urged the Centre to stop what he described as symbolic measures and instead take stringent action against those responsible for the alleged examination irregularities.
