Food poisoning leaves 29 people ill in Mahabubnagar

Hyderabad: Twenty-nine people, including 17 children and a pregnant woman, were hospitalised after allegedly consuming contaminated food in New Moti Nagar of Mahabubnagar.

According to officials, the affected people fell ill on Friday after eating leftover food from a wedding feast that had been distributed to residents of a nearby slum. The victims developed health complications and were shifted to the Mahabubnagar Government Hospital for treatment.

Medical personnel are monitoring the condition of all the patients. Officials said those admitted to the hospital are receiving the necessary treatment.

Police and health officials have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the suspected food poisoning and to establish whether the food served was contaminated.

Former minister Srinivas Goud visited the Government Hospital and enquired about the condition of the patients. He asked doctors to provide the best possible treatment and closely monitor their recovery.
