Man mistakenly kept in mortuary at Mahabubabad Government Hospital; Health Minister orders inquiry

Hyderabad: In a shocking case of negligence at the Mahabubabad Government Hospital, staff placed a living man inside the mortuary by mistake. Following the incident, Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha ordered an inquiry and promised strict action against those responsible.

Man mistakenly kept in mortuary at Mahabubabad hospital

The victim, Raju, a driver from Bayyaram village in Chinnagudur mandal, went to the hospital for kidney treatment. Doctors, however, refused to admit him because he did not carry his Aadhaar card. While waiting outside, Raju collapsed from weakness. Believing he had died, staff treated him as an unclaimed body and moved him to the mortuary.

Early the next morning, a sweeper cleaning the mortuary noticed Raju breathing and immediately informed the staff. They shifted him to another ward and began treatment.

Health Minister orders probe into hospital negligence

As news of the incident spread, people condemned the hospital’s negligence. Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha took serious note of the issue and directed a three-member committee of senior professors from different medical colleges to investigate.

The committee will submit its findings soon, after which the government is expected to take disciplinary action against the staff involved.
