Hyderabad: The Telangana government launched a ₹5-crore Centralised Community Kitchen in Medak to provide daily breakfast to 29,183 students. Minister for SHAKTI and Mines Dr. G. Vivek Venkataswamy inaugurated the facility at the Medak Market Yard on Saturday. The government launched the kitchen alongside the CM Breakfast Scheme.
Vivek said the government remained committed to providing nutritious food to students from a young age. At the same time, it aimed to improve employment opportunities through better education and skill training.
He said the initiative went beyond policy announcements because the government was creating systems for large-scale implementation. “The government is building robust operational systems—spanning cooking, quality control, transportation, and distribution—to ensure seamless, large-scale implementation,” he said.
CM Breakfast Scheme covers 405 educational institutions
The government established the Medak kitchen in partnership with the Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation. The facility will provide daily breakfast to 29,183 students across 395 government schools and 10 government junior colleges.
These institutions are spread across 11 mandals in the Medak and Narsapur Assembly constituencies. Vivek said the government planned to expand the CM Breakfast Scheme across Telangana.
Under the proposed expansion, nearly 20 lakh students would benefit through a network of 36 Centralised Community Kitchens across the state. Following the inauguration, Vivek shared breakfast with local students. He also interacted with them at the programme.
