Vivek calls for balanced labour policy in Telangana

Hyderabad: Labour, Employment and Mines Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy said the Telangana government will pursue a balanced labour policy that protects the interests of both workers and industries. He said sustainable industrial growth is essential to create jobs and strengthen worker welfare.

The Minister made the remarks while addressing a stakeholder consultation on the Labour Codes at the MCR HRD Institute on Tuesday. The meeting discussed labour courts, State-specific concerns, recommendations to the Union government and the formulation of rules under the Labour Codes.

Vivek Venkatswamy said constructive discussions between employers, workers and other stakeholders would help build a healthy industrial environment. He added that industries and employees benefit when both sides reach practical and mutually acceptable decisions.

Furthermore, the Minister invited industrial associations and trade unions to share their views on the Labour Codes. However, he stressed that protecting workers’ interests would remain a central objective of the government.

Balanced labour policy to support growth and jobs

Vivek Venkatswamy said the government is aligning its industrial strategy with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s vision of making Telangana a $3 trillion economy by 2047. He added that the State is giving special attention to industry requirements while framing future labour policies.

Meanwhile, the Minister said the government has been consulting industrial associations for several months to identify sector-wise skill requirements. Based on those inputs, Telangana is designing training programmes to improve the employability of young people.

He also said the Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs) being established across the State will help build an industry-ready workforce. According to the Minister, the balanced labour policy will support industrial expansion while creating more employment opportunities.
