Hyderabad: The Telangana Civil Supplies Department deployed 28 personnel from the Greyhounds and Octopus units to tackle rice miller defaults. The personnel joined the Enforcement and Vigilance wing to strengthen action against millers who violate government regulations.
Civil Supplies Commissioner M. Stephen Raveendra briefed the personnel at Civil Supplies Bhavan in Hyderabad on Friday. The teams completed specialised training in departmental procedures and legal provisions covering essential commodities.
The personnel will work across Telangana and conduct surprise inspections. They will also carry out intensive field-level enforcement against defaulting rice millers.
The Commissioner warned that the department would follow a zero-tolerance policy. Officials will register criminal cases and initiate stringent legal action against millers who violate government rules.
Rice miller defaults draw statewide enforcement
The department’s enforcement drive comes after a record paddy procurement season in Telangana. The State procured 154 lakh metric tonnes of paddy during KMS 2025-26.
The government spent around Rs. 40,000 crore on the procurement. Against this backdrop, the department has strengthened its field-level enforcement mechanism.
The newly deployed personnel will support surprise checks and enforcement operations across the state. The department said it would take strict action against violations identified during these inspections.
