Hyderabad: A government doctors strike disrupted medical services across Telangana on Friday after the state government failed to respond to demands related to the implementation of transfer guidelines.
The Telangana Government Doctors Association (TGGDA) launched the agitation, alleging that authorities had not addressed concerns over transfers.
Doctors demanded the full implementation of provisions under GO No. 38.
As part of the protest, doctors boycotted duties in government hospitals across the state.
Government doctors strike affects OP services statewide
The strike affected services at major hospitals, including Osmania and Gandhi hospitals, as well as district and area hospitals.
Doctors suspended outpatient services, causing inconvenience to patients who arrived for treatment.
Many patients, including women and elderly persons, faced difficulties in accessing OP services.
However, doctors continued to provide emergency medical services.
Meanwhile, protesting doctors staged demonstrations at hospital premises and demanded immediate intervention from the government.
TGGDA president Dr. Narahari and secretary general Dr. Lallu Prasad Rathod called for transparency in the transfer process.
They demanded that the government implement GO No. 38 in its entirety.
The association also sought consideration of spouse and other priority categories during transfers.
In addition, the doctors demanded exemptions for association office-bearers as per existing rules.
The association urged the government to hold discussions and resolve the issue at the earliest.
It also warned that doctors could intensify the agitation if authorities failed to respond to their demands.
