Hyderabad: Telangana is rapidly emerging as a major destination for semiconductor projects in India, Information Technology and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said on Saturday while inviting Malaysian companies to explore investment opportunities in the state’s advanced manufacturing sector.
The Minister made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation from Penang, Malaysia, led by Deputy Chief Minister YB Jagdeep Singh Deo, at the Secretariat. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in semiconductors, electronics manufacturing, artificial intelligence, innovation and human capital development.
Highlighting the growth of Telangana semiconductor investments, Sridhar Babu said Hyderabad was evolving into a key centre for chip design, electronics manufacturing and advanced technologies. He also briefed the delegation on the state government’s initiatives aimed at attracting global investors.
The Minister said Telangana offered significant opportunities across semiconductors, life sciences, biotechnology, clean energy, aerospace, defence and precision engineering sectors.
Telangana semiconductor investments backed by global partnerships
Sridhar Babu stressed the importance of international collaborations in accelerating innovation and industrial growth. He said Telangana remained committed to building partnerships that support economic development and technology-driven expansion.
He noted that Penang’s established expertise in semiconductor assembly, testing and packaging could complement Telangana’s efforts to strengthen its semiconductor ecosystem. Such cooperation, he said, could help the state move further up the global semiconductor value chain.
The Minister added that strategic partnerships with international industry players would contribute to enhancing the state’s competitiveness in advanced manufacturing and emerging technologies.

Jagdeep Singh Deo said Penang was keen to deepen engagement with Telangana and explore areas of mutual interest. He expressed interest in expanding cooperation across sectors identified during the discussions.
Both sides agreed to work towards developing a roadmap for collaboration in semiconductors, electronics manufacturing, artificial intelligence, innovation and workforce development.
The meeting reflected Telangana’s continued efforts to attract global investments and strengthen its position as a leading destination for high-technology industries. The state government believes increased international cooperation can support the growth of its semiconductor and advanced manufacturing ecosystem.
