Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday said industrial growth should create livelihoods and not merely improve investment statistics. He said the Telangana government’s industrial policy focused on generating employment and expanding opportunities for people.
Bhatti Vikramarka made the remarks while inaugurating the Industrial Innovation and Technology Expo 2026 at HITEX. He said the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) served as a strong bridge between the government and industry.
The Deputy Chief Minister described the expo as a platform for exchanging ideas and promoting innovation. He said the event would help small businesses find customers, manufacturers adopt new technologies and startups connect with their first buyers.
Industrial growth requires stronger manufacturing
Bhatti Vikramarka said Telangana had earned the confidence of investors and achieved strong industrial growth since the formation of the state. He noted that Hyderabad had gained global recognition in information technology, pharmaceuticals and life sciences.
However, he said the state’s progress should not remain limited to the services sector. He stressed the need to increase the contribution of industry, especially MSMEs, to the state’s economy. He added that manufacturing played a vital role in creating jobs and strengthening the rural economy.
Furthermore, Bhatti Vikramarka announced that he would reserve every Friday for meetings with MSME associations and industry representatives. He said the discussions would help the government address their concerns and suggestions.
Industrial growth supports future technologies
The Deputy Chief Minister welcomed the expo’s focus on electric mobility, renewable energy, robotics, artificial intelligence and smart manufacturing. He also paid tribute to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi for his role in introducing India to the computer age.
Bhatti Vikramarka said the Telangana government had provided a 100 per cent exemption on road tax and registration fees for all categories of electric vehicles. He added that the government aimed to build the entire electric vehicle supply chain and related technologies within the state.
He also said Telangana had ensured uninterrupted power supply despite peak demand increasing from 15,000 MW to 18,500 MW over the past two-and-a-half years.
Finally, the Deputy Chief Minister reiterated the government’s goal of transforming Telangana into a $3 trillion economy by 2047. He invited industrialists to invest in the state through public investment and public-private partnership projects.
