Hyderabad: Telangana has stepped up NEET security measures ahead of the June 21 medical entrance examination. For the first time, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has engaged the Indian Air Force to transport question papers securely.
On Saturday, Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao reviewed statewide preparations through a video conference. He directed district administrations to make foolproof arrangements and ensure the smooth conduct of the examination.
According to Health Principal Secretary Christina Zongthu, 72,956 candidates will appear for the examination. They will write the test at 208 centres across 24 cities in Telangana. The Chief Secretary urged officials to work closely together and provide students with a hassle-free experience.
Meanwhile, Additional Director General of Police Mahesh Bhagwat stressed the importance of coordination between police and district authorities. He instructed police teams to maintain strong security at all examination centres. He also called for constant vigilance throughout the examination process.
Enhanced security measures across Telangana
During the review meeting, National Testing Agency Director General Abhishek Singh said authorities are implementing enhanced security protocols for this year’s examination. Notably, the use of Indian Air Force aircraft to transport question papers forms a key part of the strengthened security framework.
Furthermore, Mahesh Bhagwat warned officials against rumour mongering and misinformation. He advised authorities to monitor social media platforms closely and respond quickly to false claims that could disrupt the examination process.
Similarly, the Chief Secretary instructed district collectors to ensure seamless coordination among departments. He also asked them to remain alert to misinformation. According to him, strict monitoring and effective communication will play a crucial role in conducting the examination successfully.
Apart from NEET preparations, Ramakrishna Rao reviewed paddy procurement operations. He directed district administrations to speed up procurement activities. In addition, he asked officials to protect harvested paddy stocks in view of the forecast rainfall.
He also instructed collectors to make comprehensive arrangements for Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s proposed visits to various districts in the coming days.
Director General of Police C.V. Anand, Civil Supplies Commissioner Stephen Ravindra, Special Chief Secretary Dana Kishore, GHMC Commissioner Karnan, SERP CEO Divya, Special Commissioner for Information and Public Relations Mukunda Reddy, and other senior officials participated in the video conference.
