Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy unveiled the Telangana Rising 2047 vision during the Telangana Formation Day celebrations at Parade Grounds. He outlined a roadmap for economic growth, agricultural transformation and social justice.
After hoisting the national flag and receiving a guard of honour, the Chief Minister paid tribute to martyrs and movement activists who sacrificed their lives for Telangana statehood. He described June 2 as a day to remember those sacrifices and shape the state’s future.
Revanth Reddy also thanked former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and former UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi for their role in the creation of Telangana. He said the aspirations of millions of people were realised through statehood.
The Chief Minister said the government had focused on welfare, poverty eradication and inclusive development since assuming office in December 2023. According to him, public support had strengthened the administration’s resolve to continue its development agenda.
Telangana Rising 2047 prioritises social justice and development
Revanth Reddy said the administration was working to ensure social justice and equal opportunities for all sections of society. He said farmers, youth, women, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, minorities and economically weaker sections remained at the centre of government policies.
The Chief Minister said Telangana’s statehood movement was rooted in aspirations for self-respect, freedom and social justice. He maintained that the government viewed itself as a representative of the people rather than a ruling authority.
According to Revanth Reddy, agriculture remained the foundation of Telangana’s economy. Therefore, it occupied a central place in the Telangana Rising 2047 vision. He described the document as a roadmap for transforming the rural economy through the Rural Agriculture Regional Economy (RARE) model.
The Chief Minister said the initiative sought to build a strong agricultural ecosystem and transform farmers into agriculture-based entrepreneurs. He urged farmers to diversify cultivation and expand the production of vegetables, fruits and other crops.
According to the Chief Minister, Telangana recorded foodgrain production of 2.36 crore metric tonnes during 2025-26. He added that paddy, maize and cotton cultivation expanded significantly, while livestock and fisheries sectors also registered substantial growth.
Farmer welfare measures and procurement drive
Revanth Reddy highlighted the crop loan waiver programme. Under the scheme, the government waived loans of up to Rs 2 lakh. He said the initiative benefited more than 25 lakh farmer families and involved an expenditure of Rs 20,616 crore.
The Chief Minister said the government spent Rs 56,496 crore on agriculture and farmer welfare during the past two-and-a-half years. In addition, it credited Rs 27,529 crore into farmers’ accounts under the Rythu Bharosa investment support scheme.
He said the government continued to provide free power to agriculture. It also initiated measures to install solar-powered pump sets. According to him, farmers could earn additional income by supplying surplus power to the grid.
Revanth Reddy said the government remained committed to purchasing farm produce at minimum support prices. He stated that Telangana paid Rs 82,840 crore towards paddy procurement during the past two-and-a-half years.
The Chief Minister said procurement operations were underway through 8,575 centres across the state. So far, the government had procured 63.65 lakh metric tonnes of paddy and deposited nearly Rs 11,903 crore into farmers’ accounts.
The government also purchased around 10,000 metric tonnes of rain-damaged paddy to protect farmers from losses caused by unseasonal rainfall. Revanth Reddy said farmers cultivated maize in nearly 16 lakh acres and jowar in around four lakh acres during the current season.
He added that the government spent Rs 4,275 crore on maize procurement and Rs 1,154 crore on jowar procurement.
Irrigation plans and economic growth targets
The Chief Minister said the government was committed to securing Telangana’s rightful share in Krishna and Godavari river waters. He added that efforts were underway to complete pending irrigation projects and strengthen irrigation infrastructure.
Referring to long-term development goals, Revanth Reddy said Telangana aimed to become a $1 trillion economy by 2034. He said the state targeted a $3 trillion economy by 2047.
The Chief Minister described Telangana Rising 2047 as a roadmap to position the state as a global gateway for investment, innovation and economic growth. He expressed confidence that public participation would help Telangana achieve its long-term vision and accelerate development in the coming decades.
